The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) Board of Directors has appointed a new Director General on a three-year term.
Acting Board Chairperson Dr. Alice Chesire, in a statement released Tuesday, announced George Njao as the new DG taking over from Francis Meja who has completed his full term contract.
“Mr. Njao has over 15 years experience in the transport sector specifically in safety management which presents a great opportunity for the Authority. He holds a Master’s degree and a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Missouri State University, USA,” said Dr. Chesire.
Dr. Chesire also commended the outgoing DG, Mr. Meja, for providing seamless and efficient services to the public by employing “the latest technology in service delivery and consolidated the Authority’s services on one online platform known as the Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS).”
“The Board acknowledges his efforts in restoring sanity on the roads through development of rules and regulations that have greatly shaped the operation of the public transport sector in Kenya,” added the statement.
The Board further made three new appointments to the NTSA management, namely: Badu Katelo (Director Road Safety), Christopher Wanjau (Director Registration and Licensing), and Shalakha Shem (Deputy Director Supply Chain Management.)
