– Neymar was on target for PSG in their 1-0 win over Strasbourg at Parc des Princes
– The 27-year-old scored a beautiful over-head kick despite being verbally attacked by fans
– Neymar’s summer move to Real Madrid or Barcelona failed to materialize on deadline day
Neymar proved why he is being pursued by top European clubs after scoring a late winner in PSG’s 1-0 win over Strasbourg in front of hostile home supporters.
The Brazilian whose transfer to Barcelona or Real Madrid failed in the summer, made his first appearance of the season for the Parisians on Saturday, September 14.
Despite being accorded a hostile reception, the 27-year-old seemed unfazed as he perfectly timed his over-head kick from a well delivered Abdou Diallo’s cross into the net.
Neymar missed the opening four games in Ligue 1 this season because of his speculated move to Spain.
However, an agreement was unable to be reached for the former Barcelona star and he decided to stay for another season with the French champions.
Neymar’s name was booed around the stadium before the game started and large messages were also directed at the attacker by fans in their thousands.
Before the game against Strasbourg, Thomas Tuchel had insisted Neymar needed to ‘focus’ after a challenging few weeks.
“Neymar is in the group, that is for sure. He can focus now. He needs to make his return as he is a PSG player, so he is in the squad for this one,” he said.
“It has not been easy for him in recent weeks, but that is life. We had the chance to speak on Thursday, but we are yet to speak today,” he added.
