The Nokia 8 Sirocco is the latest Nokia smartphone to receive its Android 10 update.
According to HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, the device’s Android 10 update is rolling out now – at least for users in the first wave markets in Europe and Asia.
For users of the device in Kenya, the update should be hitting their devices over the next few days and weeks.
The Nokia 8 Sirocco’s Android 10 update comes after HMD Global recently released updates for the Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 4.2 in quick succession just a week ago.
This now means that of the devices that were set to be upgraded to Android 10 by HMD Global as per its revised update roadmap, only 3 smartphones remain: the Nokia 2.3, Nokia 3.1 Plus and Nokia 6.2.
Going by the said update roadmap, whose revision was necessitated by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, those devices are set to get their Android 10 update any time soon.
Other Nokia smartphones, namely the Nokia 5.1 Plus and the Nokia 1 Plus, are set to get their Android 10 updates later this quarter. They will then be followed by the Nokia 1, Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1.
The Android 10 update for the Nokia 8 Sirocco, once HMD Global’s hero device, incorporates all the new features that Google brought to Android in version. Like the Android 10 builds that the company has seeded to the most recent devices it has upgraded to Android 10 – in this case, the Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 4.2 – this update also includes a quick toggle in the Quick Settings for turning on and off the dark mode.
The update clocks in at 1.38GB and includes the April 2020 security patch.
