NSE Market Turnover Dips by 50% in Thursday’s Trading

Trading on Thursday at the Nairobi Securities Exchange saw a 50% drop in Turnover to Ksh. 358.4 Million compared to Wednesday’s Ksh. 716 Million. Foreign investor participation saw a slight drop to 61.9%

Safaricom was the day’s main feature with 3.4 Million shares traded, valued at Ksh. 105 Million. This made up 29.23% of the day’s traded value. Safaricom stock was trading at between Ksh. 29.85 and Ksh. 30.95. Equity Group closed the day at Ksh. 34.85 with over 1 million shares traded and an 80.1% foreign investor participation. KCB Group saw over 2.5 million shares traded, 72% of trades done by foreign investors.

Britam Holdings was the top gainer of the day closing at Ksh. 8.90, a 9.14% increase from 8.14 on Wednesday. Kenya Power saw a 4.3% share price depreciation with over 1.6 Million shares traded all being local investor activity

Safaricom and Flame Tree Group were the top net foreign buys. Flame Tree saw an end of day share price appreciation of 8.2% closing at Ksh. 1.99. Net Foreign sellers of the day were KCB Group and Centum Investments.

The Investment sector had shares worth Ksh. 11 Million traded and accounted for 3.07% of the day’s traded value. Centum Investment moved 418,900 shares worth Ksh. 10.8 Million closing the day at Ksh. 25.95

The bond market had bonds worth Ksh. 1.1 Billion transacted. The New Gold ETF moved 600 units valued at Ksh. 1 Million and closed at Ksh. 1,765.
