NTSA decries increase in deadly road accidents

The National Transport and Safety Authority has expressed concern over increase in fatal accidents. The figure has surpassed the 2,000 mark.
With three months to the end of the year, there has been a seven per cent increase in fatal accidents compared to last year. Some 2,214 people have died between January and September this year compared to 2,053 last year.
NTSA road safety director Njeri Waithaka said night public service vehicles record the most cases. She cited an accident at Kimende on the  Nairobi-Naivasha highway two months ago. More than 15 people died in the incident recorded as the worst this year in Kimende.
