The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has invalidated 51 driving school licenses across the country for failing to adhere to traffic rules.

This was after a revalidation exercise that aims to weed out driving schools that operate without the requirements of the Authority.

They are stated in Section Four, part 2 (i) and (j) of the National Transport and Safety Authority Act, 2012 that states:

“(The Authority shall) establish systems and procedures for, and oversee the training, testing and licensing of drivers; (j) formulate and review the curriculum of driving schools.”

Documents submitted by the driving schools were evaluated to determine their compliance levels, a statement from NTSA said.

The exercise was sanctioned in April by Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiangi in collaboration with the authority’s board.

Some of the driving schools in Nairobi whose licenses were nullified and denied access to the NTSA portal include:

  • Charka Trade Company Ltd (Embakasi)
  • Ganatra Plant And Equipment Training Institute (Baba Dogo)
  • Kifaru (Eastleigh)
  • Motorcycle Riding School (Ngara)
  • Printax (Village Market)
  • Safe Link (Ruaraka)
  • Sony (Ongata Rongai)
  • World International Driving (Donholm)

The operation was extended to driving schools in Embu, Kisii, Kisumu, Bungoma, Mombasa, Meru, Marsabit, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Kiambu, Garissa and Machakos counties.

NTSA Director General has advised the public to take note of the schools affected.
