Supporters of the embattled Migori Governor Zachary Okoth Obado Sunday held demonstrations in the streets of Uriri, his hometown to protest his detention.
The irate supporters and a few relatives marched from his Rapogi village to Uriri center, approximately 7 kilometers away, in a show of solidarity with the governor who is currently in police custody over the murder of university student Sharon Otieno.
The governor’s supporters demanded to know why the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) had frozen the bank accounts of their County boss while he is in police custody saying the move was politically instigated by his detractors.
Obado’s supporters vowed to disrupt the ongoing senatorial campaigns in the region should the governor spend more time in police custody.
