E-health portal MyDawa has partnered with local pharmaceutical technologists (pharmtechs) to deliver medicines ordered on its platform to customers.

The pharmtechs, fully licensed by the Phamaceuticals and Poisons Board and members of Pharmaceutical Association, will in addition to delivering the drugs clarify correct dosage and timings.

“Patients will be given advice on managing the condition or disease and/or the medication being administered. Patients will also get direct information on possible side effects, can clarify correct dosage and timings as well as counselling services,” MyDawa said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the firm, this will reduce medicine non-adherence thus ensuring better health outcomes and ultimately aiding the progression towards universal healthcare.

The online pharmacy in April partnered with Sanlam Kenya as the insurer looked to reduce cost on medical covers through lower prescription costs by up to 20 per cent sincew customers access relatively cheaper drugs from the online retailer.

Private Equity firm Ion Equity launched MyDawa last year.
