OPPO Kenya yesterday unveiled the OPPO Reno 10x in the country. It starts at a recommended retail price of KES. 89,999
The company has been pushing the idea of full screen devices for a while now, with the new pop-up selfie mechanism, hence minimal bezels, the Reno 10x is a new reach as the company says it boasts of 93.1% screen-to-body ratio.
The RENO 10x is a full flagship device with the specs to match: there’s the Snapdragon 855 chip, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB internal storage.
It is a glass sandwich design with the front display being protected with Gorilla Glass 6 (the latest) and the back being protected with Gorilla Glass 5. The front 6.6 inch display maxes out at 1080p resolution but is an AMOLED panel.
The phone should give you a couple of days use with the huge 4065mAh battery that supports VOOC Fast Charging over USB type-C.
It is obvious from the name that this is a camera centered device, actually among, if not, the first devices we’ve seen with 10x zoom. There’s three rear cameras: a 48MP main shooter, the 13MP Periscope lens, and an 8MP ultra-wide lens.
The periscope lens is unique on its own because it manages to do 5x optical zoom. Which is crazy tech on a phone! To achieve 10x zoom, the phone uses software.
With the device you can shoot 4K UHD 60fps videos. There’s Optical Image Stabilisation on both the 48MP main lens and the 13MP telephoto lens.
The front camera is already unique on its own capacity with that shark-fin like pop-up mechanism. It is a 16MP lens
The only thing holding OPPO devices back is ColorOS which is very limiting, company pricing and marketing. But this is a great phone.
