Top Fry Nakuru RFC head coach Mitch Ocholla is aiming to improve last year’s third-place finish in the overall National Sevens Circuit this season.

The Nakuru based side are currently third on the log with 64 points; eight points shy of leaders KCB RFC with only two legs remaining in the circuit.

‘The Wanyores’ finished third over the weekend in the Prinsloo sevens outshining neighbours Menengai Oilers 26-5 in the third place play-off match, something that the former Shujaa tactician is happy with.

“I’m happy with the boys at the moment because they’re playing according to our game plan, working hard and improving in every tournament so I would like them to continue with the momentum as the circuit nears the end,” charged Ocholla.

Ocholla underlined that some of his players got minor injuries which he hopes they will recover from before the Christie Sevens set for Nairobi in a fortnight.

“Some of my players got some knocks and minor injuries so they’re going to be accessed medically then after getting their reports we’ll know our way forward ahead of Christie Sevens,” he added.

He went on: “There is an improvement in the circuit this year, massive player development and fair officiating unlike last series,” applauded Ocholla.

KCB RFC tops the log after playing four legs with 72 points, three points ahead of Prinsloo champions Mwamba RFC.

Top Fry Nakuru are tied at position three with Homeboyz on 64 points, three ahead of fifth place Menengai Oilers.

The Ngong road side Impala Saracens is sixth with 45 points, a point ahead of Nondescripts with varsity side Masinde Muliro University placed eighth with 35 points, three ahead of Strathmore Leos who are in position nine.

Northern Suburbs are 10th with 25 points followed by Kabras Sugar on 24 points, Mean machine ( 15), Blaq Blad (12), Western Bulls (11), Kenya Harlequins( 11), Egerton Wasps (7), Kisumu RFC (3) and Catholic Monks on two.

The circuit takes a one-week break before returning with the last two legs of the season  – Christie (Nairobi) and Driftwood  (Mombasa).
