The wife of late actor and comedian Charles Bukeko, alias Papa Shirandula has blamed Karen hospital of negligence in the way they handled her husband’s situation.
Speaking today morning during the burial of the late actor in his Busia home, Beatrice Andega expressed her disappointment how the doctors delayed in attending to the actor leading to his death while in his car.
“I went to Karen hospital. Admission was just another process. I’m telling them he needs support and an emergency. The time they are still preparing he passed on when I was with him in the vehicle. He was not even admitted. He passed on seated in the car,” painfully narrated Mrs Bukeko.
The family confirmed that the Kenyan legendary face of comedy and rib-cracking adverts started feeling sick after returning to Nairobi and went for a checkup at Karen Hospital where he tested positive for Covid-19.

However, Papa’s widow says that three tests were supposed to be done in order to fully know the right diagnosis; something the hospital failed to do.
“I went and asked the doctor how many tests he carried out and he told me one. I asked him why they were meant to be three. Why do you only concentrate on one?… When people come, don’t concentrate only on one disease when people are not dying of that one but the other one,” said Mrs. Andega.
The late actor’s father has also expressed doubt that his son died from Covid-19 and has said he will seek more answers from the hospital once they get back to Nairobi.
Papa’s body arrived in Busia County at 3 am in the morning escorted by two buses ferrying mourners. In line with the Covid-19 regulations, the mourners were received by health officials, screened and prevented from interacting with the locals.
Papa was buried in a brief burial ceremony under high security at his Busia home. Mourners were immediately asked to leave the compound after the ceremony ended.
