Football legend Pele will be buried at the Memorial Necrópole Ecumênica,world’s iconic vertical cementry on January 3.
The Memorial Necropole Ecumenica, in Santos, is a 14-storey tall and unique cemetery, occupying an area of 1.8 acres.
It contains about 16,000 graves.
Pele’s coffin will be placed on the pitch and fans will be able to pay their respects for a period of 24 hours.
A procession through the streets of Santos will then take place celebrating the icon.
Private Burial Ritual
The parade will pass through Canal 6, where Pele’s mother lives,then proceed to the Memorial Necropole Ecumenica where he will be laidto rest in family’s vault. This area will not be accessible to the public.
A Tomb With A View
He will be buried overlooking the Santos pitch that made him famous.
