Nairobi, Kenya, Apr 11 – Detectives are currently holding three men who are believed to be responsible for the killing of a well-known cleric, in Bungoma’s Kaptama area last week.
The three are suspected of shooting Pastor David Slyvester Ngeiwa on April 7 at round 9 PM who later succumbed to his bullet wounds.
“Job Mosobin alias Malilo, Geoffrey Kimutai alias Kus Kus and Andrew Ngeiwa alias Michuki were arrested following the murder most foul, after they accosted Pastor David Ngeiwa as he closed his shop at around 9pm on the fateful night,” The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said Tuesday.
During the incident, the suspects who were armed with an AK-47 assault rifle shot the clergyman on the stomach before taking off with an unknown amount of money.
Efforts by well-wishers to save the cleric’s life turned futile, after he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Sikotia medical centre.
The suspects were apprehended through the collaboration with the members of the public.
The Monamed Amin-led agency said that an operation to recover the firearm used in the attack is currently underway.
Police have since impounded the motorbike used as the getaway means by the suspects.
