Police boss issue new traffic rules for selected VIPs : The StandardPolice have been ordered to punish drivers of vehicles overlapping traffic flow and does not belong to the categories that were issued Wednesday evening.

Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai issued the directive and categorised VIPs who will be entitled to clearance whenever they are on the roads.
Category one include the President, Deputy President, First Lady, Cabinet secretaries for Interior, Defence and Foreign Affairs and Principal Secretary for interior.
Category two include Chief Of Defence Forces, service commanders, Inspector General of Police, deputy inspectors of Kenya police and Administration Police while category three include speakers for National Assembly and the Senate and Majority Leader.
Category four include retired presidents and prime minister while category five include ambulances and fire brigade.
“All other vehicles including government vehicles are expected to follow the normal traffic flow. Any Government vehicles found violating traffic regulations especially those overlapping the drivers shall be arrested and charged in accordance with the law,” he said.
He added that the directive takes effect immediately.
Mutyambai said the move was aimed at streamlining traffic in major cities and that only the categorised VIPs are entitled to clearance on the roads.
Mutyambai however did not include the Chief Justice with a section of Kenyans who felt he deserves the services taking to social media to share their opinion.
The move follows constant complaints by Kenyans against government officials who overlap on roads especially during rush hours.
Some Kenyans online negatively reacted to the new directive.
