Police in Homa Bay County have launched a manhunt for Kasipul MP Ongondo Were to record statement after two of his aides allegedly stabbed a teacher on Sunday evening in a Hotel near Oyugis town.

The MP who was present during the scuffle is alleged to have gone underground after his assistants identified as Jerry Ouma and Lamon Okoth stabbed Kennedy Okong’o, a tutor at Omiro Vocational Training Institute.

The two men together with the MP are said to have gone to the said hotel at around 5pm where they found the victim with some of his friends and descended on him with knives thus stabbing him severally on the stomach.

Police reports indicated that the MP and his aides drove in to the hotel with a government Vehicle belonging to Kasipul National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) before attacking the tutor.

Okong’o is alleged to have been a supporter of the MP ahead of the 2017 general election but later withdrew his support for the MP due to unknown reasons, which is suspected to have angered the MP and his aides.

Confirming the incident to KNA, Homa-Bay County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Daniel Wachira said the residents living around the hotel immediately responded to the distress call from the tutor and started beating the MPs aides thus leaving them unconscious.

The aides Jerry Ouma succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at Rachuonyo South Level four hospitals while Lamon Okoth is still admitted in the same facility under tight security.

Wachira added that Ouma and Okoth were rescued by police officers who were on patrol at that moment.

The CID boss reiterated that police officers are still looking for the legislator who cannot be reached on phone including the driver and the NG-CDF vehicle who disappeared after the incident.

The stabbed teacher on the other hand was rushed to a hospital in Kisii County under critical condition.
