Migori County Assembly legislator Susan Mohabe is leading a campaign against a police officer who allegedly defiled his 12-year-old daughter and was never charged.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred on November 1, 2019 after the girl went home to collect school fees from her father.

The victim, who lives with her paternal grandmother after her parents separated, is said to have been washing dishes when the suspect allegedly attacked her.

According to Mohabe who is the Nyamosense/Komosko MCA, efforts to get justice have been futile since some police officers in Kuria West were allegedly protecting the suspect.

“Why was the girl detained for six days at Isebania Police Station after the ordeal. This was a ploy to interfere with evidence which would be crucial for the cases in court,” Mohabe claimed.

Kuria West OCPD Bernard Muriuki however said attempts to take the suspect to Kehancha Law Courts twice on November 5 and 19 failed after the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) wrote a letter citing lack of evidence to incriminate the suspect.

The police boss however assured residents that officers would pursue the case and ensure justice is served.
