A woman in Kisii is recovering in hospital after she was brutally injured by a mob for sexually assaulting her step-daughter.

Winnie Kwamboka, the pregnant woman, was attacked after she inserted a hot knife in her nine-year-old stepdaughter’s private parts as punishment after she took Ksh20 from the house to buy a snack.

According to the neighbours, the girl’s parents passed on 6 years ago and she was left in the care of her stepmother who lives with her in their rented apartment.

Kwamboka was reportedly rescued from the mob by police officers who rushed to the scene and took both the girl and the stepmother to the Kisii Level Six Hospital where they are being treated.

According to the police report at the Kisii Central police station, the primary school going girl sustained burns on her thighs, buttocks and her private parts.

Since the death of her parents, the minor is mentioned to have been subjected to frequent assaults from Kwamboka.

Kwamboka is set to appear before the court later on Monday.
