– Man United suffered a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in their third EPL clash

– Goals from Aanholt and Ayew gifted the Eagles all the three points

– Chelsea and Palace took advantage of the result to clap back at United’s previous tweet appearing to mock Chelsea

An injury-time strike by Patrick van Aanholt on Saturday, August 24, denied Manchester United a point at Old Trafford as Crystal Palace marched to a 2-1 win.

Jordan Ayew opened the scoring for the visitors in the 32nd minute, only for Marcus Rashford to fluff a chance to equalise minutes into second half after missing from the spot.

With just minutes to stoppage time, Daniel James restored parity for United with a wonderful strike, before Aanholt breaking the home-side’s hearts with a winner.

Moments after the match, Crystal Palace and Chelsea rubbed salt into the wounds of the Red Devils by mocking them for their tweet about the Blues.

The Manchester outfit initially tweeted the wrong hashtag hours to the Crystal Palace clash, with their Twitter account using ‘#MUNCHE’ instead of ‘#MUNCRY.’

United would however later reply to the tweet with a dig at Chelsea.

“Wish we were playing Chelsea again, though,” the Red Devils tweeted.

Palace, who defeated United for the first time in the Premier League, could not help but take full advantage of their victory by mocking United

Crystal Palace tweeted: “We’re sure you do… *#MUNCRY.”

And just when it appeared all was settled, Chelsea decided to take a quick swipe at them for their initial dig.

“How’d it go?” The Chelsea Twitter account humorously asked.

Meanwhile, the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer-tutored side will be seeking to make amends to their campaign when they play Southampton in their next Premier League fixture.
