Preparations for transmission of power underway, Kinyua says

President elect Dr William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua will be sworn in on Tuesday 13th September which will be a public holiday.

The Assumption of the Office of the President Committee met Tuesday morning a day after the Supreme Court upheld the election of Dr Ruto, in keeping with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s firm commitment to facilitate a smooth transition to the incoming Administration.

“We convened this morning to progress the preparations for the transition from the Fourth Administration to the Fifth Administration that have been ongoing from the 12th of August,” Committee chairman, Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua said.

President elect Dr Ruto was represented by Davis Chirchir, Justin Muturi, Gladys Boss Shollei, and Veronica Maina in the meeting.

“The President-Elect shall take the Oath of Office as administered by the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary before Her Ladyship the Chief Justice. As per the law, this must take place any time between the hours of 10:00 AM and 02:00 PM. Thereafter, the Deputy President –Elect will also sworn in,” Kinyua said.

He said with the presidential election cycle now behind us, the Swearing-In and Inauguration Ceremony is an opportunity for the nation to not only witness and usher in our nation’s Fifth Administration but also to celebrate the strength and vibrancy of our Constitutional and Democratic Processes.

“All Kenyans are invited to be part of this historic event. We are all called upon to join hands and continue with the sacred work of building a Kenya worthy of the sacrifices of our forefathers during the struggle for Independence and building the very best Nation that we can bequeath to future generations,” He said.
