President Kenyatta spending Christmas in Mombasa

President Uhuru Kenyatta is in Mombasa where he will spend his Christmas holiday.

Accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, President Kenyatta Sunday  boarded the standard gauge railway-SGR train from the capital Nairobi to Mombasa.

On his twitter handle, President Kenyatta said during the trip he met and interacted with fellow commuters who shared their interesting experiences about the service.

He further said he was glad that the SGR train services have enhanced travel for Wananchi between the two cities. This was his second trip on Madaraka Express since launching the service in May 2017.

The president’s trip comes at a time Kenya Railways is recording booming business, with Madaraka Express having been fully booked over the Christmas holiday.

Earlier this month, Kenya railways announced that it has added more coaches due to high demand for seats on the Madaraka Express during this festive season. The addition will be valid until Jan 2, 2019.
