President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua yesterday commenced a four-day retreat with Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and other top government officials at the Nanyuki based Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club.
According to State House spokesperson Hussein Mohammed, the main aim of the meeting is to review the performance of Ruto’s government since he assumed office as President and also highlight key areas of focus to see the execution of their campaign pledges as the new year starts.
“The retreat between 5th-8th January will crystallise the implementation programme of the Administration’s Plan for the Year 2023,” he stated.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi said the meeting was aimed at harmonising, bonding and creating synergy to realise President Ruto’s manifesto as promised during the election campaigns.
He called on all government officials to do away with politics and focus on service delivery.
“Politics are now behind us. It is our key mandate to focus on delivering the best to Kenyans rather than talking too much. We are here to evaluate ourselves on how we have performed as a government compared to the manifesto that we presented to Kenyans,” Mudavadi said.
The retreat which concludes on Sunday, will see matters such as the high cost of living, reviving the country’s struggling economy, and reducing the rising public debt discussed.
In attendance was also retired Chief Justice David Maraga who is now the Chairperson of the police welfare taskforce and Attorney General Justin Muturi.
