President William Ruto is today expected to embark on a three days’ development tour in the South Nyanza region which doubles as the political backyard of his political nemesis Raila Odinga in a move ostensibly aimed at quelling rising discontent amongst citizens amid ongoing anti-government protests championed by the opposition leader.

This is the first Ruto’s visit to Kisii, Nyamira and Migori counties since assuming office in August last year.

In Kisii county later today, the Head of State is expected to begin with the launch of the Kegati Water Project in Nyaribari Chache Constituency, from where he will head to West Mugirango to launch the Sironga Housing Project.

Thereafter, Ruto will commission upgrading of the Gekano-Rigoma-Amabuko Road in Kitutu Masaba Constituency.

The president will also hold meetings with leaders in the regions.

In January this year, president Ruto embarked on a similar two days’ development tour in the Nyanza region in Homa Bay, Siaya and Kisumu counties.

President William Ruto is received by Homa Bay county governor Gladys Wanga at her office.

Speaking during his tour in Homa Bay County, president Ruto assured that no region will be left behind in terms of development regardless of its political inclination.
