Security was tightened early Wednesday at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as the first consignment of Presidential ballot papers arrived in the country.
Officers from the Kenya Police and the General Service Unit we deployed at various strategic locations inside and around the airport. High-ranking officials from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission led by deputy chair Juliana Cherera were at hand to receive the ballots.
The consignment which arrived at 10 am was delivered days after representatives of the four presidential candidates, among other stakeholders, traveled to Greece to witness the printing of the ballot papers.
A fortnight ago, the commission received ballot papers for the other elective posts as the electoral agency races to get everything in place ahead of the August 9 general elections.
