Wajackoyah remains the only presidential candidate who has not voted.
Presidential- hopeful George Wajackoyah of the Roots Party has been unable to vote after the KIEMS (Kenya Integrated Elections Management) Kit at his polling station failed to recognise him. Wajackoyah arrived at Indangalasia Primary School in Matungu constituency at 10:10 a.m. accompanied by his wife but was unable to cast a ballot owing to a technical issue.
In an address to the media shortly afterwards, Wajackoyah questioned why the kits were not tested in the first place. Voting has been delayed in several areas in Kakamega county over failure of the KIEMS kits. Wajackoyah lamented that these are his strongholds in terms of election numbers.
“You would have started from here. But we are experiencing a challenge. The problem is with the machine. There is nothing we can do (now). We have communicated to the headquarters, and they said they are coming. If it is okay, voters will be given their 11 hours from the time we start,” an Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) official told Prof Wajackoyah.
Wajackoyah will have to await further instructions before leaving the county, if he wants to have a further chance to vote.
