Prices Continue to Fall at Weekly Tea Auction

The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on 12th, 13th, and 14th July 2022 had 12.4 million kilograms of tea offered for sale. The amount on offer was the same as both during the previous sale and during a similar period last year.

Of all the tea offered for sale, 9.3 million kilograms were sold, compared to 8.9 million kilograms during the previous sale, and 6.8 million kilograms during the same period last year.

The tea auction recorded a slight decrease in prices, with a kilogram selling at an average price of $2.21, compared to $2.23 during the previous sale held on 12th, 13th, and 14th July 2022, but increased when compared to the $1.59 fetched during the same period last year.
