
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi today hosted the Finnish delegation led by Minister for Economic Affairs, Hon. Mika Lintilä at his Treasury offices, Nairobi.
Today’s engagement between the Prime Cabinet Secretary and The Finnish delegation focused on the need to expand bilateral and multilateral ties in Trade and Commerce; scale up collaborations and co-operations between the two countries for the benefit of the citizens.
Mudavadi welcomed Finnish investors to take advantage of Kenya’s geo-economic position saying the country is truly the gateway to the East African region.
“Kenya is indeed the gateway to the EA region and your (Finland) investors should take advantage of this reality” said the Prime Cabinet Secretary.
“Lamu Port is our strength and Finland being a maritime country can tap into the economic opportunities that the port holds” added the Prime Cabinet Secretary.
“The Climate Change Crisis is getting worse and as a Country we are facing the worst drought ever in our recent history. We appreciate any intervention from Finland including construction of dams,” Mudavadi said.
The Prime CS said that Kenya has a lot to learn from Finland especially on forest cover; an area that can help deal with the effects of climate change in the country. H.E (Dr.) Musalia Mudavadi lauded efforts by Finland to maintain forest cover that surpasses agreed international target.

“We will be looking to borrow from Finland’s experience on how to handle its effects especially on forest cover and technology,” Mudavadi added.
Kenya-Finland bilateral relationships date back to the 1960s and the meeting today has put emphasis on need to further expand this collaboration in different areas of our socio-economic stage.
