The Political Parties Tribunal has barred the Registrar of Political Parties from effecting changes in the Jubilee party pending the hearing and determination of a matter filed by a faction of party members.
The matter was brought before Desma Nungo, chairperson of the tribunal today for directions.
“Pending inter parties hearing and determination of the application, interim conservatory orders are hereby issued staying the Respondent’s decision communicated via the letter dated February 13, 2023, to the effect that the meeting was properly convened per the party constitution and further staying any consequential action by the Respondent towards effecting, adopting or ratifying the subject meeting resolutions,” the tribunal stated.
This comes after the ORPP approved the move by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to suspend Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni and replace him with Eldas Constituency Member of Parliament Adan Keynan.
The committee also resolved to kick out David Murathe as its National Vice-Chairperson and replaced him with Eldas Constituency Member of Parliament Adan Keynan.
Kagwe Gichohi was also removed as the National Treasurer and replaced by Kitui South Member of Parliament Rachel Nyamai.
