A returning officer for Embakasi East Constituency, Daniel Musyoka has been reported missing while on duty.
During the Friday evening presser at Bomas, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chair Wafula Chebukati revealed Musyoka went missing while on duty at the East African School of Aviation Tallying Center.
According to Chebukati, the RO was escorted from his residence at around 9.45 am Thursday to the tallying centre by his bodyguard where he excused himself to make a telephone call.
“He however did not return to the office. Musyoka’s family and the commission have tried to reach him without success,” says Chebukati.
The IEBC Chair says owing to the prevailing situation, his duties are now being handled by his deputy returning officer.
In addition, Chebukati notes that a report of a missing person has been made at the Embakasi Police Station under occurrence book NO.24/11/8/2022.
Further, the IEBC Chair notes that the commission is deeply concerned about the unfortunate incident and is calling upon the relevant security agencies to speedily investigate the matter.
