, MURANG’A, Kenya Aug 4 – Deputy President William Ruto has asked Jubilee politicians to stop factional politics and instead focus on the party’s development agenda.
He said Kenyans were counting on the Jubilee administration to implement projects that would better their lives.
Ruto said it was irresponsible for leaders to engage in divisive politics at the expense of initiating development projects.
“We have one agenda; that of transforming the country through the Big Four agenda, which is led by President Uhuru Kenyatta,” noted the Deputy President.
To deliver on the agenda, he explained that leaders must unite, and cultivate teamwork.
Ruto spoke on Sunday at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Kiharu, Murang’a County where he was accompanied by MPs Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), Purity Ngirici (Woman Rep, Kirinyaga), James Gakuya (Embakasi North) and Mary Waithira (Maragua).
Others were Alice Wahome (Kandara), Faith Gitau (Woman Rep, Nyandarua), Githiaka Kiai (Mukurweini), Geoffrey King’ang’i (Mbeere South) and Mwangi Gichuhi (Tetu).
At the same time, the Deputy President said he would continue spearheading the implementation of the Jubilee manifesto across the country “to secure President Kenyatta’s legacy”.
“I would not allow the party’s projects to be derailed; I would mobilise Jubilee leaders and ensure we move forward in one direction.”
Leaders at the function vowed to work together to confront various challenges facing Kenyans.
Wahome said Jubilee leaders were keen on ensuring Jubilee’s manifesto is implemented.
She said they would not stomach any petty quarrels in the party that would slug the transformation of the country.
On his part, Nyoro said they would continue supporting the Jubilee administration because it had demonstrated its commitment to transforming the country.
Ngirici noted that Mt Kenya leaders were working closely with Ruto because of his commitment to the implementation of the party’s development projects.
“Our support to the party deputy leader would continue beyond 2022 because he has the will and power to change Kenya for good,” she added.
Mr Gichuhi condemned some confusion in Jubilee party, observing that it was being orchestrated by selfish individuals who are focused on succession politics.
He said in 1978, amid succession politics, both President Jomo Kenyatta and his deputy (retired President Daniel Moi) ignored petty politics and focused on their respective duties.
“History will repeat itself in 2022 because the Deputy President has stood firm with President Kenyatta,” he argued.
The MPs also said they were opposed to a referendum that sought to create positions for a few individuals.
Gachagua said the proposed referendum should aim at empowering Kenyans rather than creating seats for poll losers.

Deputy President William Ruto has said Jubilee is a formidable party with no opposition within it.
He further noted that the party was focused on uniting and developing the country.
Ruto said those moving round claiming that Jubilee had not done anything for the country need to be ignored.
“We have a clear track record of where we picked this country from, and where we are taking it,” he explained.
He argued that no amount of noise will break the government’s pace in transforming the country through infrastructure, healthcare, education, among others.
He spoke in Kinangop, Nyandarua County, where he led a fundraiser for African Inland Churches in the company of area Governor Francis Kimemia.
Also present were Members of Parliament Kwenya Thuku (Kinangop), Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Michael Muchira (Oljoroorok), Faith Gitau (Woman Rep, Nyandarua), David Kiaraho (Olkalou), Jayne Kihara (Naivasha) and Rahab Mukami (Woman Rep, Nyeri).
The Deputy President challenged those criticising Jubilee to table what they had done for Kenyans.
“You cannot engage Kenyans in petty politics from sunrise to sunset; the orientation of the country’s politics has changed to that leaning towards development,” Ruto added.
But even with the said criticisms, the Deputy President said Jubilee would not tire from making Kenya better.
“I will ensure the pledges we made to the people are fulfilled.”
Thuku observed that Kenyans would not be swayed by the politics of witch-hunt.
“As leaders, our prime goal is to ensure the continuation of the development plans that Jubilee laid down in 2013. We will not leave that development and stability of the country in the hands of political hawkers,” he said.
On his part, Muchira asked Kenyans not to listen to politicians who do not have their interest.
He said Jubilee leaders know where the country had come from, where it is and where they would like to take it.
“The development agenda of Jubilee has to be continued smoothly even after the 2022 elections. That is why we are backing Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mukami regretted that cancer was fast eating into the human capital of this country.
“It is sad we lost Kibra MP Ken Okoth. We must therefore prioritise the health pillar in the Big Four agenda,” she said.
