Rwanda has announced plans to construct Kigali Innovation City at the Africa Investment Forum Event. The event took place on 11th-13th November 2019 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Kigali Innovation City will be located in Kigali’s Special Economic Zone. The Rwandan government will value the project at about $2 billion. It will also act as a host for world-class universities, technology companies, biotech firms, commercial and retail real estate.

The construction project will create 50,000 jobs annually while building a critical mass of talent, research and innovative ideas.

The project will also form part of the Government of Rwanda’s vision 2020 development program and National Strategy for Transformation 2017-2024.

Additionally, the project will have a Pan-African human and economic development impact.

The construction project will be a private-public partnership between the Rwandan government, Africa50 and other African states.

Rwanda is known to be one of the world’s fastest-growing economies because it is leading in terms of its technological advancement and infrastructure development.
