The Galaxy A5x series has proved extremely popular in most markets, especially in Europe and North America, largely due to striking a delicate balance of affordability, high performance and the solid build quality of Samsung devices. The A5x series has long dominated the list of best-selling 5G Android smartphones, and new leaks regarding the new Galaxy A54 5G hint that this trend might continue in 2023
The leaks come from the FCC, a regulator that checks the emissions of radio frequency energy by cell phones and other small wireless products. All phones released in the USA must undergo scrutiny and the regulator publishes their results, which then provide us with hints on the kind of specs the devices pack.
The latest listing is a phone with the code, SM-A546E, believed to be the new Galaxy A54 5G. It has a minimal battery capacity of 4,905 mAh which will likely be marketed to consumers as a 5,000 mAh battery and supports 25 W fast charging, which should take the battery from 0% to 100% in slightly more than one hour
The listing says the smartphone will be charged by a Samsung EP-TA800 adapter (a 25 W charger), however, going by previous Samsung releases of the A5x series, it is highly unlikely that the charger will come packaged in the same box as the phone. You will have to buy it separately if you do not have a USB-C charger.
In a previous leak, this time from Geekbench’s benchmark database, the Galaxy A54 5G is expected to run Android 13 out of the box and have 6 GB of RAM. However, it is highly likely that there will be a variant with 8 GB of RAM. It was spotted with the chipset named S5E8835, which is believed to be the Exynos 1380, a successor to the Exynos 1280 currently powering the Galaxy A53.
Details related to the camera are however unclear at this point, however, a triple camera setup is expected with the primary camera boasting a 50 MP sensor. As to when the A54 5G will be released, the best bet is March, which is the time the Galaxy A53 was released last year and the A52 back in 2021.
