Serani Boys started their Mombasa County Secondary School games on a winning not overcoming their long time rivals Shimo La Tewa Secondary 2-0 in the Under 19 category.
Mwidadi Said opened the scoring in the 20th minute before Bandari youth winger Abdulrahman Mohamed added the second, 10 minutes later for the Swaleh Sundah coached side.
Speaking after the game, Sundah -who formerly coached Mombasa power houses Tononoka Boys and Green Palms- said he is aiming for the nationals on his first year with the boys.
“It’s my first year with Serani but the boys are good and we’re aiming for nothing than the national slot,” said determined Sundah.
In other games, Tudor Day lost 1-0 to Moi Force Academy as Coast Girls were beaten 2-1 by Valerye in Under 19 girls category while Serani U16 boys whitewashed Frere Town 4-0.
In girls under 16, Frere Town Secondary recovered from 2-0 defeat to Mama Ngina in their first match to beat Mwijabu Girls 2-0.
Elsewhere, Sheikh Abdallah Al-Farsy Girls are through to the knock out stage of the netball games after winning their first two group games.
They thrashed Moi Forces Academy and Hassan Joho Girls 24-12 and 35-2 respectively.
Head Coach Maritina Juma said her girls have improved from last year as they were bundled out of the Sub-County games while setting regional games as their main target.
“My girls have improved on shooting and defence as they were form ones last year and we are aiming for the regional games for the first time.”
