Police in Masaba North Nyamira County are investigating an alleged murder incident at St Don Bosco Secondary School.

The School Principal Samuel Mabeya through OB number 43/3/6/2019 had reported that 16-year old Form Two Student Wycliffe Okio had gone missing from the school since May 19, 2019.
In his report to the police, Mabeya said he only came to learn of the disappearance of the student 12 days later from the class teacher.
The principal later called on the deceased’s father Robinson Mayeka and informed him that the son had gone missing from the school.
On Monday at around 5 pm a security guard at the school, David Nyambane Osongo, sensed some odious smell emanating from a nearby toilet normally used by teachers.
Osongo said that on confirming, he noticed that one of the latrines had been locked from inside and as he peeped he noted a body lying on the floor.
Kenya Police Service, DCI from Keroka police station and Education Officers visited the scene and found a decomposing body of the deceased lying on the floor of the toilet while hands were tied.
Police confirmed that the body also had visible injuries and a loose mosquito net was hanging loose on the rooftop. The body was later moved to a private morgue at in Keroka.
A tearful father; Robinson Mayieka while addressing the media in the school said he was called on Thursday last week and was informed that his son had sneaked from school and his whereabouts were unknown.
“This is a lie that my son died in the pit latrine, the school administration must explain how he died. The Ministry of Education and that of Interior must come and tell us on who killed my son,” said Mayieka.
Masaba North Sub County Police Commander Walter Abondo said they had recorded a number of statements and could make arrests once they get a clear lead into the death.
“This is unfortunate and we expect to the bottom of the matter as soon as possible. This is an assurance to the family that culprits will be arrested and will have to face the full force of the law,” he said.
The school Principal Mr Mabeya could not be reached for comment.
