
The 25-year-old woman who gave birth to a set of naturally-conceived quintuplets in Nakuru has lost all five babies.
The family confirmed that two died today morning whereas the other three were pronounced dead at around 1pm.
“We have received the shocking news that the babies have passed on.The family is devastated and in shock. The hospital authorities told us that two of the quintuplets had passed on, Thursday morning, and the other three in the afternoon,” a family member said.
The mother, Margaret Wairimu who didn’t know she was carrying five babies, went into labour on Tuesday and gave birth to the five babies through an operation.
She was admitted at the Nakuru Level Five Hospital on January 27, when she exhibited pregnancy complications at 25 weeks (slightly over six months).
She gave birth to four girls and a boy who were underweight and were sent to the incubators at the hospital’s Margaret Kenyatta Mother and Baby maternity wing.
The husband Simon Ndungu, a 28-year-old driver had appealed for well-wishers’ support to raise the children.
