National rugby sevens team will face Australia in the Challenge trophy quarterfinals tonight in the Vancouver sevens after being relegated to the challenge trophy after losing all her group B matches.
The Kenyan team coached by Paul Murunga started their group ‘B’ campaign against Fiji but lost 36-12 to the former world champions.
Despite putting up a spirited fight in their second game against Samoa they eventually lost 35-12 then they also lost their last group game 36-21 to Canada.
The team currently lie 13 on the World Rugby series standings with 17 points.

The team which has been affected immensely by lack of funding will now get the necessary support after President Uhuru Kenyatta said all national teams including the Rugby sevens team will receive full government funding as they take part in the international assignments.
The other team that is set to benefit from the government’s full support include the national soccer team Harambee stars which is preparing to take part in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to be held in Egypt in June.
