Silverstone Air has confirmed that their flight Dash 8-300 from Lodwar to Nairobi Monday experienced an incident during takeoff and as a result, lost the number 3 wheel assembly.
According to Silverstone Air Services Management, the captain of the flight decided to divert to Eldoret International Airport in the interests of the continued safety of the passengers and the crew.
“This was a precautionary action and the aircraft landed safely.” Said the statement.
They also added that the airline has activated its contingency plans and the affected customers were rebooked and have since landed safely in Nairobi.

This comes two weeks after the aircraft a Fokker 50 5y-IZO, crash landed while taking off at Wilson Airport with 55 persons on board, where two passengers were slightly injured.
