NAIROBI, Kenya Mar 16 – Senate Speaker Amason Kingi on Thursday formally communicated the Azimio Coalition – the Minority side leadership changes in the House.
Consequently, in the changes, Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo is to cede her Minority Whip position to her Narok counterpart Ledama Ole Kina.
“I have verified all the documents presented in my office and I hereby direct that the changes take effect immediately,” Kingi said.
The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition replaced Dullo a Jubilee party member following accusations that she had become a rebel.
She was among 30 Jubille members who shifted their allegiance and pledged to support President William Ruto’s administration.
Azimio Leader Raila Odinga maintains that President Ruto’s government is illegitimate.
House Minority Leader Stewart Madzayo had in mid-February notified the Speaker’s office of the leadership changes on the minority side.
The delay in the Speaker’s Communication subsequently fuelled an acrimonious debate in the House with the members of the minority side accusing the Speaker of being partisan on the matter.
