Stop abusing drugs, venture into sports, Jomvu urges youth

Jomvu Member of Parliament Badi Twalib is urging youth in Mombasa to venture into sports and stop indulging in drug abuse that only helps to ruin their lives.

Speaking at Dhow racing event Twalib said many jobless youth in the region have been force to indulge in drugs and other forms of crimes out of desperation.

The MP says the initiative will play a pivotal role especially in job creation and make the youth engaged instead of staying idle and lured into drugs.

The winners of the competition were awarded 30,000 shillings and a medal each with the second and the third taking home 20-thousand and 10 thousand shillings respectively.

Meanwhile, Youth in Kiambu County have been urged to keep off drugs and substance Abuse and focus on their talents to better their lives.

Sauti Mashinani Foundation and Total War Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse director Gladys Chania said many young people have had their lives ruined by indulging in activities that add no values to their lives killing their dreams.

Speaking at Kagwe town during a Youth Forum and Talent show event Gladys Chania of Sauti Mashinani Foundation and Total War Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse  called on young people to be responsible and avoid being lured to drugs and Substance abuse.

She urged youth to use their Talents in a manner that will enhance their skills, saying in some parts of Kenya young people are exploiting their talents to earn a living.

The event gave the young people an opportunity to showcase their talents and walk away with some goodies.
