A visit to a girlfriend on Friday night ended in tragedy after gunmen stormed the house and killed a fifth year Kenyatta University student.

Although police are yet to establish the motive, it is believed Mr Felix Otieno could have been a victim of a love triangle or a deal gone sour.
By last evening, police in Ruiru were trying to piece together circumstances surrounding the student’s killing who was at the tail end of his pharmacy studies.
The career of the 29-year-old was cut short by a single shot fired on the lower abdomen when gunmen swooped on him as he played computer games with a friend. His girlfriend was not in the house.

Otieno was pronounced dead at a city clinic where he had been rushed. His friend escaped unhurt. The two men who stormed into the house fired two shots from a pistol.
Ruiru Police chief James Ngetich yesterday said police had opened investigations into the incident. “There are many issues coming up but we are hoping to unravel the reasons. We need to know who the killers are, if they were robbers and why they picked on the student (Otieno),” Mr Ngetich said.
Detectives said Otieno’s girlfriend was yet to be traced by last evening.
The security brief from Ruiru Police Station to Kiambu Police Headquarters and copied to Vigilance House reported that two men stormed into the house in Kahawa Wendani at about 11pm. The attackers are said to have asked the whereabouts of yet another person and a confrontation ensued.

The incident comes barely a month after the shocking killing of a fourth year University of Nairobi student whose body was found dumped along the Globe Cinema round about. Yesterday, Nairobi Central Police DCI chief Kobina Cheserek said police were still investigating Peter Kahugi’s killing.
