The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Lamu Governor Fahim Yassin Twahib.
The court Wednesday ruled that former Governor Issah Timamy’s appeal lacked merit adding that Court of Appeal did not err in upholding Twahib’s election.
Justice Mohammed Ibrahim said they found no fault on the Court of Appeal decision and that Appeal Court did not go beyond its jurisdiction.
Timamy had challenged the court of appeal decision that upheld Twahib’s election.

The court ruled that Timamy was unable to prove any allegations of impartiality and thus his appeal was dismissed.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared Twahib winner after he garnered 22,969 votes on a Jubilee ticket against Timamy’s 22,848 votes during the 2017 general elections.
