Taita Taveta launches automated system to improve service delivery

Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja has launched an automated Performance Management System for members of his cabinet in a bid to improve performance and service delivery.

Speaking in Mwatate Sub County office, Governor Samboja said the integrated system will help promote transparency by simplifying the monitoring and reporting processes of projects being implemented and services offered to mwananchi.

“As I welcome this noble idea, it should be noted that my administration has always ensured all available resources are utilized. It will no longer be business as usual for those who give less input and expect much, ” the county boss said.

Deputy Governor Majala Mlagui said the current Kenya Devolution Support Programme assessment rates the county government of Taita Taveta at 78% compared to the 38% score last year but said there is need for the County to implement the program to help unlock resources.

“Some of the large projects need NEMA certification and for years we have never taken this into account. The system will also help us address the issue of supplementary budgets and tracking the changes that have been happening across the years,” she said.

The Council of Governors through their programmes and resource mobilization officer Eunice Fedha urged the County to embrace the integrated system in order to avoid audit queries, pending bills among other problems hindering efficiency in devolved governance.

Her sentiments were echoed by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) programmes manager Mary Njoroge who said the automated PMS will help promote transparency and public participation in the County’s development agenda.
