– Abraham scored three goals against Wolves to take his tally to seven goals
– He is now the youngest Chelsea player to score a hat-trick in a top-flight match
– The Blues currently sit sixth on the standings with eight points
Tammy Abraham’s sensational hat-trick against Wolves on Saturday, September 14, has seen him shatter Eden Hazard’s record.
The 21-year-old struck thrice as Chelsea hammered Wolves 5-2 in a seven goal thriller to get their campaign back on track after a shaky start into the new season.
Fikayo Timori opened the scoring for the Blues in the 31st minute, with Abraham doubling the lead three minutes later.
Abraham went on to score his second in the 41st minute, before completing his hat-trick of the day in the 55th minute.
The Englishman is now the youngest player at Chelsea to score a hat-trick in a professional match, smashing Hazard’s previous record set in 2014.
At the time, Hazard was just 23, scoring three goals in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Newcastle.
Incidentally, Abraham has also become the first English player to score a hat-trick for Chelsea since Frank Lampard in 2011.
Back then, Lampard was on target three times as the west London side cruised to a 5-1 win against Bolton Wanderers.
Meanwhile, Abraham’s hat-trick at the weekend fired him to the top of the goalscoring charts with an impressive seven goals.
