Tea Auction Records a Fall in Prices

The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on the 2nd and 3rd June 2020 recorded 12.3 million kilograms offered for sale. The amount of tea on offer increased from 8.3 million kilograms offered for sale during the same period last year.

Of all the tea offered for sale, 10 million kilograms were sold compared to 6.7 million kilograms sold in the same period in 2019.

The sale recorded a decline in prices, with a kilogram selling at an average of $1.81, compared to $2.08 for the same period last year and $1.83 during the previous auction.
