Former Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya almost wetted his trousers after a botched arrest in the county following protests led by the Azimio coalition demonstrations that rocked the country.
The former governor was arrested in a movie-like scene resembling an abduction ordeal that could have turned nasty had his security tried to repulse their police counterparts.
Oparanya’s motorcade was intercepted at Khayega by officers in civilian clothes while enroute to Kakamega to have dinner with a friend.
The officers who were using three vehicles with private registrations stepped out with their guns pointed at him.
One of the officers forced his driver out of the vehicle before taking the wheel and driving off.
According to police sources, the former governor panicked and started crying, nini bwana, nini bwana, nimekosa nini? (What is it, what have done?) as he sweated profusely lightly wetting his pants apparently afraid that his last hour on earth was nigh. Oparanya’s lawyer said he was arrested like a terrorist.
