Trade, Investment and Industry Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has presided over the launch of the country’s latest revolutionary Cab hailing service, Showfa Ride in Nairobi.

The new entrant will join other online taxi companies as it pledged to disrupt the market and to avail commission free world class services to its drivers with fairly affordable prices to customers using the application in Kenya.

The CS expressed optimism in the success of the application as he lauded the continued re-innovation move in the Fintech and technology by local developers aimed at steering Kenya to the global standards.

“I am here to support local developers as we introduce this African – Kenyan market product…. I see it develop market products,” confirmed Kuria.

CS Kuria urged the developers to ensure deduction of a certain amount of money in the drivers’ wallet payable monthly in form of salary so as to ensure it enhances a savings culture amongst the drivers to allow them borrow loans from banks.

Kuria reiterated that the government is committed to being a leader in tech center and government development.

“We have laws that are long been overtaken with time. Policies such as for a foreign company to set up in the country must have at least 30 per cent local ownership…. I do not support that, what we want as a country are jobs and investment,” said CS Kuria.

The CS urged locals to focus in Fintech and technology as he called on Kenyans to be innovative and competitive and not conservative.

“I want to work with Fintech companies as I move around the world for markets for our locals,” observed Kuria.

Showfa Ride Director Druv Raja said the application is meant to serve as a savings platform for Kenyans and drivers using it will be able to access all the monies accumulated in their wallets.

The application launched by government is a new digital taxi app meant to serve the local mwananchi with a game changing ‘Commission Free’ to the drivers and is set to face stiff competition from the other local and foreign applications operating in the country.
