NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 28 — The Ministry National Treasury and Economic Planning and that of Energy has been scored at E in an Infotrak survey published on Tuesday.
Infotrak’s Senior Field Operations Manager Johvine Wanyingo said the two ministries had been singled out as worst performing by most respondents interviewed scoring a paltry 35 per cent.
Wanyingo said a total of 2,149 Kenyans gave their responses across the country, with most of the respondents being from the Rift Valley region.
“They need to pull up their socks according to Kenyans,” Wanyingo stated.
He also pointed out that two other ministries stood out in the survey after being rated at C plain, an above average mark.
The two are the Ministry of ICT and Digital Economy which scored 54 per cent and Transport, Roads and Public Works rated at 50 per cent.
Overall, the study indicated that all the other ministries performed below average after scoring 45 per cent, an equivalent of a D plain.
The survey’ findings on the individual performance by Cabinet Secretaries however differed from ministry rankings.
Interior’s Kithure Kindiki emerged among top performers in a list that included Ezekiel Machogu (Education), Ababu Namwamba (Sports and Youth), Susan Nakhumicha (Health), Mithika Linturi (Agriculture) and Alfred Mutua (Foreign and Diaspora Affairs).
Infotrak’s list of least performing Cabinet Secretaries included Salim Mvurya (Mining), Florence Bore (Labor and Social protection), Rebecca Miano (East African Community) and Soipan Tuya (Environment).
