Governor Samuel Tunai has moved his Finance team in a reshuffle he said was aimed at improving service delivery and accountability as he promised to clear the more than Sh1 billion pending bills owed to suppliers.
Addressing journalists at his office yesterday, Mr Tunai, (pictured), said he had moved his Finance Executive Morgan Siloma and Chief Officer Denis Letiet from the powerful docket.
New line-up
Under the new line-up, Mr Siloma will now head the Health docket, while Mr Letiet was moved to Public Service and Administration.
Tunai named Julius Tompo, who was serving as Lands and Urban Development executive, as new Finance chief, and appointed Simon Kuraru new Chief Officer.
Mr Tompo, a banker, will now be tasked with overseeing the payment of the pending bills following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive to the 47 counties to pay suppliers their debts.

“I have made the changes to my Cabinet today to ensure we start the New Year in top gear. The new team, I believe, will deliver in the mandate to implement the county policies as per our County Integrated Development Plan,” said Mr Tunai.
Others affected in the reshuffle include John Marindany, who was moved from roads to Agriculture, swapping places with Evalyn Koiyan.
Former Health boss Sereti Mpeti will now be in charge of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
Tunai also announced that his administration had created a pending bills audit team, which will be vetting the suppliers and contractors to be paid.
