Two people died while three others were injured on Monday night in a road accident on the Kajiado–Namanga Highway.
The accident, which occurred five kilometres from Kajiado town, involved a Nissan X-trail vehicle and 52-seater passenger bus; both heading in opposite directions.
Kajiado OCPD Issa Mohamud said the driver of the X-trail moving towards Namanga lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the bus heading towards Nairobi.
The private car then veered off the road and plunged into a ditch before it was crushed by the bus, killing its two occupants — a man and woman — on the spot.
The bus and wrecked car were towed to Kajiado Police Station pending conclusion of investigations.
The injured passengers were taken to the Kajiado County Referral Hospital while the bodies of the deceased were moved to the same hospital’s mortuary.
