Police in Eldoret have arrested two people found in possession of fake currency notes worth over Ksh. 150million Eldoret town.

The suspects were arrested with the fake currency notes in one of the mansionettes in Elgon View estate allegedly owned by an ex-Webuye West parliamentary aspirant.

This follows a complaint filed by a woman who claimed she was tricked to pay Ksh. 600,000 with the promise that the money would be multiplied.

Confirming the incident, Langas OCPD Francis Warui called upon residents to be on the lookout for fake currencies.

Police have launched a manhunt for the ex-Webuye West parliamentary aspirant who is believed to be on the run.

The two suspects were taken to Kiamba Police Station where they will remain in custody until investigations are complete before they are arraigned in court.

The incident happened barely two months after police in Embu arrested three other suspects after they were found in possession of Ksh. 100,000 fake notes.

Last month three other Kenyans were also arrested after they were found with fake US currency notes worth over Ksh. 1billion ($10million) in Embakasi, Nairobi.
