U.S. Kids-NCBA Nairobi Local Tour – GhettoRadio 89.5 FM

The fifth event of the U.S. Kids-NCBA Nairobi Local Tour was held on Wednesday, 4th January 2023 at Royal Nairobi Golf Club.

130 boys and girls aged between 5 and 18 years participated in the tournament.

Trevvy Mungai led the Boys 6 years and under category with a score of 45 while James Tino Macakiage and Mohamed Mtsumi followed closely on second place with a score of 46 gross.

Aarna Mengi led the Girls 8 years and under category with a good score of 38 gross while Kanana Muthomi and Adam Nesbitt played a similar score to lead in the Girls 9-10 and Boys 9 Years Categories respectively.

Ivan Kimutai lead in the Boys 7 Category with a score of 45 gross while Jeff Kibe won the Boys 8 Category with a score of 48 gross.

Shuhan Peng won the Boys 10 category with a score of 43. Joven Reel and Palash Tank tied on second place with a score of 48.

Home player Mwathi Gicheru played the best score of 74 gross to win in the Boys 11 category.

Peter Gathogo from Nakuru overcame the competition from Aidan Gachora and Yuvraj Rajput to lead in the Boys 12 category.

Brianna Ngecu played a score of 79 to win in the Girls 11-12 warding off competition from Cherono Kipkorir who played 81 gross and settled for the runner up position. 

Bianca Ngecu played 83 gross to lead in the Girls 13-14 years category while Maryam Mwakitawa continued the lead in the Girls 15-18 years category with a score of 84. Shashwat Harish played 79 gross to win the Boys 13-14 years category while Kevin Anyien played 80 gross to win in the final group of Boys 15-18 years. 

The Captain of Royal Nairobi, Peter Mwangi, lauded the efforts of the Royal Junior Golf Committee lead by the Junior Convenor, Eng. Gicheru Kimani, for the efforts put in place to ensure junior activities are held at the club and promised the continued support of the club for the junior development.

The NCBA Bank Yaya Branch Manager, Peter Omollo, reiterated NCBA’s focus on the development of golf from the junior ranks and appreciated the partbership with the Junior Golf Foundation and U.S. Kids Golf towards the success of such initiatives. 

The next event in the tour will be held this Sunday at Sigona Golf Club followed by Vetlab Sports Club on Sunday, 15th January 2023. The Tour Championship will be held on Sunday, 22nd January 2023 at Muthaiga Golf Club.
